Twenty Items about Application Knowledge of Woven Geotextiles
1. Definition ( by ASTM).
Woven that used together with subgrade ,soil ,rock,earth,or other land building materials and as a component of man-made projects,structure,and system are all called Geotextiles .

3. Filteration . Geotextiles allow water flow smoothly and in the mean time prevent soil movement,so as to avoid soil erosion,soil gushing in the tube and blocked.
4. Drainage . Geotextiles have good three-dimensional permeability .Despite that soil is with poor permeability ,geotextiles can slowly collect water from the earth and drain it along its body quickly.
5. Segregation . Geotextiles can segregate different geotechnical structures,materials and form a stable interface,which make each structure seperately but can also do repective performance and play the role of a whole.
6. Reinforcement . Geotextiles can avoid the movement in Geotechnical Engineering for long-time use,and distribute partial stress on the earth to a more larger area,which for Geotechnical Engineering , especialiy in poor earth projects ,can do reinforcing function .
7. Prominent advantages . Light weight, integration,good contiuity,convenient in construction , high strength ,corrosion resistance ,good antimicrobial erosion,good permeability ,and soft texture that combines with soil well.
8. Disadvantages . Low performance of UV resistance,and not be exposed in the sun.
9. Function used in roads and railways subgrade ,is mainly segregation ,reinforcement ,and to prevent uneven settlement,secondary filteration and drainage.
10. Function used in coastal and river bank protection ,is mainly segregation ,filteration and drainage,secondary reinforcement.
11. Function used in embankment ,is maily reinforcement,and secondary filteration and drainage.
12. Function used in earth and asphaltum road surface , is mainly reinforcement ,preventing
reflective cracking ,secondary segregation.
13. Function used in wet subgrade projects,is mainly filteration and drainage ,secondary
reinforcement and segregation.

16. Advantages used in roads ,
1) Stable strength ,high loading capacity, long life
2) To prevent the soil get into gravel subgrade and pollute it ,keep the gravel subgrade in good permeability and conductivity.
3) To prevent stones under load to get into the soft subgrade ,and no uneven settlement. Also to prevent the loss of stones ,and keep the height of gravel subgrade. All can save stone materials used in the subgrade and prolong the life of roads.

1) Sewing in forward direction ,with side length of 10cm of each piece ,stable and material saving

18. Laying requirement. Lay flat ,tidy and evenly ,keep continuity,and not twisted, wrinkled and overlaping.
19. Laying requirement on slope. Keep a certain degree of tightness( adjusted by U-nails), to avoid being deformed by stones and going beyond its elastic limit.
20. Disposal of damange , mainly by lapping repair on the work site.
